I saw Dr Andra Negoescu at the Newmarket Hospital in recent weeks regarding ongoing spinal, SI joint & hip pain. At this point into the investigation, (awaiting a future MRI and results from recent X-rays), I can thoroughly recommend Dr Andra Negoescu based upon my first consultation with her. A Dr that listens carefully to the patient and has in my opinion provided a thorough investigation with a scheduled follow up in the near future along with a recommendations for an aqua fit type exercise which I have since started with the hope that this may help somewhat long term. My thanks and appreciation to Dr Andra Negoescu for all her time and expertise thus far, having struggled for so long, I am keen to have a thorough understanding of the physical issues I have developed over time which are frustratingly inhibiting my physical capabilities as a relatively young person.

I feel that I was listened too and Dr Negoescu explained things to me clearly regarding my previous MRI and I very pleased with the care I received from her .

Given other reviews I had high hopes of being listened to and obtaining useful advice on pain management but this did not happen. No questions were asked at all about what hurt, how much and when. It was strongly implied I was wasting valuable NHS resources and appointments and there was no effort made to talk through scan results, whole focus seemed to be getting me out of the room so they could see the next patient. It was as if my condition was just not interesting enough for them to bother with. All in all it was a humiliating experience. Will be going back to my helpful GP for guidance now I have a diagnosis.

In the course of the past 2 years I have spoken to Dr. Negoescu twice. She was courteous and sympathetic on the phone and twice promised me a face to face appointment which did not materialize. I would like practical help with my condition as I am often in a lot of pain in my back and joints. I have been advised by a G.P. to weretake Cocodamol very sparingly as this drug can cause blood clots. I often have a hot, prickly sensation in my back and neck when I walk up the stairs. When I reach the top of the stairs I struggle to reach the nearest chair to sit down as I feel faint and dizzy. I find this experience disorienting and scary. Please may I have a face to face appointment in clinic? I would like some advice on the state of my spine as 18 months ago I fell over and broke 2 vertebrae and 2 more vertebrae were compressed.

Profile

I am a Consultant Rheumatologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. Having grown up in a small town in southern Romania, I qualified in Bucharest, where I started my training in Rheumatology, before moving to the UK in 2012.

I joined Addenbrooke's Hospital in 2013 as a research fellow and spent 18 months working in the Rheumatology Research Unit, gaining experience in clinical trials and the use of biologics and small molecules.

I am currently leading the early inflammatory arthritis service in Cambridge, and along with my colleagues in Paediatrics, I am developing a transition service for young people with chronic rheumatological conditions, aiming to improve their journey towards adult services, and helping build their confidence in managing their condition. I also do community Rheumatology clinics in Ely and Newmarket, for people who are local to these areas.
